Explore the furniture of he Stafford Hotel, London: History Meets Modern Elegance

The Stafford Hotel is a true icon of St James’s, with a history as rich as its luxurious interiors. Its story begins in the 17th century, when numbers 16–18 St James’s Place were originally built as private residences.

The Location

 Over the years, these buildings have hosted a fascinating array of characters, from Lord and Lady Lyttelton to Lady Lyttelton’s service as a nanny to Queen Victoria’s children. By 1912, these historic homes were transformed into what we now know as The Stafford Hotel, a masterpiece of timeless charm and sophistication.

While the hotel’s legendary 380-year-old Wine Cellars remain a testament to its historic roots, The Stafford continues to innovate. In 2024, we were thrilled to collaborate with their team to bring a stunning new addition to life: a rooftop terrace.

The Rooftop Garden Terrace

A rooftop garden terrace was introduced to the Stafford hotel this year, allowing guests to sip cocktails in the sun before dining. We worked closely with the hotel to create a space plan that could maximise space and offer outstanding comfort to guests with high-quality, durable exterior furniture

Situated adjacent to the Penthouse Suite, the new rooftop terrace is a haven for guests and diners seeking to unwind in style. Whether sipping cocktails under the sunshine or enjoying an evening surrounded by London’s skyline, this space is now a standout feature of The Stafford experience.

At Kirkdale Studios, we were proud to play a part in this project by:

  • Supplying beautiful rattan furniture designed for comfort and elegance.
  • Providing stylish parasols for shade and ambiance.

Advising on space planning to ensure the terrace makes the best use of sunlight and seating arrangements, creating a welcoming and functional outdoor retreat.
