We create interactive play objects and elements that define the identity of spaces and landscapes.

Tell us about Skull

Skull Studio, based in Prague, was founded in 202 by sculptor Matej Hajek,  photographer Bet Orten and designer Pavel Krajcik.

We create interactive play objects and elements that define the identity of spaces and landscapes. Our landmarks bring into play two core disciplines, architecture and art, thus creating unique and carefully considered pieces.

Our solution aims at the deliberate stimulation of various functions of physical and mental apparatus. A combination of tactical, visual and hearing perceptions in a parallel scenario bring the action of play into an unusual situation. This results in a disruptive reaction that initiates the process of adaptation of the organism. The Adaptation is a key mechanism that brings play, learning and the perception of art together.

What childhood experiences have influenced your outlook on design?

I guess it had always been rather a practical approach to objects and their functionality when I was a child. I discovered only much later that the visual aspect or even fun can totally transform your enjoyment of using a product.

How do you spend your free time?

I am a very cultural person and enjoy various activities, more on an alternative side. I love the sea and mountains and the sports related to them.
