Mildred’s, the iconic London eatery has undergone a refurbishment of its well established Camden restaurant, reinvigorating the space with colour and style.
The Project
While the Camden location has been serving delicious plant based food for 8 years, the restaurant has seen a complete refurbishment. Designed by Brighton based Studio Arin, the inviting space uses a mixture of colour, textures and panelling to bring a fresh look to the venue.
When first entering the restaurant, you’re met with vibrant artwork commissioned by Rusty Studio that spreads across the back wall in bright pops of colour. The custom designed bar also catches the eye as a stone counter sits atop green and sand coloured artisan tiles set into a Flemish style checker board.
The Furniture
We were delighted to be working on this project and we worked hard to supply beautiful chairs, tables and bespoke marble table tops that would match every delicious bite served up by the iconic vegan restaurant.
The Chairs
The Biba chair was the perfect seat for this restaurant as the curved backrest and soft seat make a comfortable chair to sit for hours over food and conversation while the unique wood grain on show brings an earthy integrity to the atmosphere. Upholstered in burgundy woven fabric, the Biba matches the rich colours and patterns found throughout the restaurant.
The Tables
The Carrara marble table tops have been edged with solid oak stained to match the seating and wall panels while the bright carrara makes for a picture perfect snap of your plate.
We spoke to Studio Arin, to learn more about the process of designing the interior of Mildred’s Camden.
The space was designed to suit the local demographic. All Mildred restaurants have a welcoming neighbourhood feel and in Camden, we respected the location, the urban vibe and gave a nod to the vintage / retro aspect of the area.

The space was designed to suit the local demographic. All Mildred restaurants have a welcoming neighbourhood feel and in Camden, we respected the location, the urban vibe and gave a nod to the vintage / retro aspect of the area.
One of the key design features in the space was the vertical panelling, not only for aesthetics, but also to deliver an acoustic layer as the space has large amounts of glazing.
Another for us was the bar. An artisanal bar with a beautiful lamp has become a Midlreds staple. We can’t wait for the planting to settle in a pour for the overhead gantry.
The booth seating too was given a retro twist with the diner style metal framework and simple upholstery.
Studio Arin have worked with Mildred’s to design the interiors on both their Soho and Covent Garden restaurants, filling the venue with art and vibrance. We can’t wait to see what their partnership will do next.
