Putting the Guest Experience at the Heart of Design
An elegant 18th-century Georgian mansion nestled in the picturesque village of Thurrock, Essex, Stifford Hall Hotel, has recently undergone a remarkable transformation from the Mercure/Accor Hotel Group.
The Project
Design Command, a renowned interior design firm, spearheaded the redesign of the hotel’s guest rooms, public spaces and corridors. This collaboration has seamlessly blended the hotel’s historic charm with contemporary comforts, offering guests a unique and memorable stay.
Design Command drew inspiration from the rich history and architecture of the local area, particularly the nearby Tilbury Fort. This influence is evident in the thoughtful design elements that pay homage to the region’s heritage while incorporating modern amenities. The design concept focuses on creating a harmonious balance between the old and the new, ensuring that the hotel’s storied past is honoured while providing guests with the conveniences expected in today’s hospitality industry.
The Furniture
After sourcing furniture for the sample room, We had the pleasure of supplying over 240 items of seating for guest rooms and suites in Stifford Hall and their partner hotel in Northampton. We worked with our trusted factories known for their craftsmanship and attention to detail to produce comfortable, stylish and durable furniture. Each piece has been meticulously designed to complement the overall aesthetic with dual fabrics that complicate the colour palette/theme of the room and the hotel as a whole. A soft boucle covers the back rest while a supple leather has been upholstered onto the seat. The furniture’s quality and design contribute significantly to the rooms’ inviting atmosphere, providing guests with both comfort and style.
The Colours and Textures
A hotel room chair has to be suitable for any purpose: a place to hang clothes, a temporary office desk and of course a place to relax after a long day. Blending style, expert craftsmanship and comfort, the Camille side and arm chair were the perfect choice of seating for this Mercure hotel.
The integration of historical elements with modern design has been well-received by guests. The thoughtful décor, combined with the tranquil surroundings of the hotel’s six acres of landscaped gardens, creates a serene environment for relaxation. Whether visiting for business or leisure, guests appreciate the attention to detail and the seamless blend of past and present that the redesigned rooms offer.
